ABQLA Bulletin Volume 54.1 January-April 2013

President's Message - April 2013

ABQLA has accomplished much over the last year.  We started off strong in the fall and continued at that pace over the winter.

Message de la présidente

L’ABQLA a accompli beaucoup au cours de l’année qui vient de s’écouler. Nous avons commencé fort à l’automne et avons soutenu le rythme pendant l’hiver.

Public Libraries section

On March 21, 2013, the Public Libraries Section organized a very successful event on ‘Ebooks in Public Libraries’, where the speakers shared their experience about working with different ebook vendors and platforms.

Youth Section

Young or reluctant readers are always calling on librarians’ imagination and creativity.  We need to be resourceful and try to offer stimulating programs.   How about reading to a cat or a dog?

College & Research Libraries

If you work as an academic librarian at either McGill or Concordia, perhaps you have attended one of the Librarian Research Partnership (LRP) meetings. The LRP is indeed a partnership between McGill and Concordia Librarians. It takes place as a series of gatherings where, with the help of our trusty facilitators, librarians can come together to talk about research.

McGill University Student Chapter

On Monday, February 4th, the McGill Student Chapter of the ABQLA held its annual Public Libraries Panel.  Eager to learn about public libraries in Montreal, students from all streams of the program enthusiastically attended.

Workshop - Invest in your Career

Last February, the ABQLA proudly hosted Toronto-based information and knowledge management consultant Ulla de Stricker for a one-day intensive career workshop at Concordia University.
