The Faculty of Information at the University of Toronto has just released the second volume of the Faculty of Information Quarterly: Vol 1, No 2 (2009): The First Student Issue!

The aim of the journal is to promote conversation within the iSchool movement and its affiliates. This issue is the first to be composed entirely of original work by iSchool students and members of the broader Information community.

Rosemere's library recently announced a first foray into mobile library services, starting with signing up a dozen residents of the CHSLD Hubert-Maisonneuve. Library director Marc Bineault added that he would like to see hundreds of people using this new service within several months.

Full day pre-conference on May 29, 2009 in partnership with CLA

As we all know, libraries are not just about books and technology. They are also places of culture, individual reflection and social interactions. Film, music and art are important components within our libraries and collections. Are we serving our patrons as well as we could be? For some patrons, books are not the main attraction. Films and music may be the reason they use the library. The arts can be "the ticket" to the library. Can libraries be the ticket to culture? What resources are available to us in order to better serve our clients? Our pre-conference will provide new thoughts about the importance of libraries to the arts and will educate librarians about resources available. This pre-conference is for public, school and academic librarians.

Thew West Island's own Literacy Unlimited partnered with the West Island Daycare, Kirkland Library, and Dorval Library, for the FLD World Record Attempt – Most Children reading with an Adult, Multiple Locations.

The program that reaches out to seniors in the neighbourhood, using volunteers of all ages to provide book delivery, tutoring, computer buddies, general help and visits, was written up in The Monitor recently.
