Jewish Public Library Tour and Bake Sales

Submitted by Jamila Hastick

On Friday October 26th McGill students enjoyed a guided tour of the Jewish Public Library. The tour of this unique institution was conducted by Leticia Cuenca. Participants viewed the main collection which includes over 150,000 items in English, French, Russian, Hebrew, and Yiddish. They also explored the beautiful children’s section and witnessed some children’s programing. Participants became acquainted with the varied programs offered by the Jewish Public Library and its wonderful collection. The McGill Student chapter would like to thank the staff of the Jewish Public Library for welcoming us into their library.

On Wednesday November 28th the McGill student Chapter of the ABQLA held a bake sale to benefit the Atwater Library and Computer Centre. Baked goods ranging from cake pops to cookies were sold by donation to passersby in the McGill Education Building lobby. Thanks to generous contributions from students the bake sale raised $220.00 which will go towards the Atwater Library’s collection development fund.
