Big City Otto is the first book in Bill Slavin’s Elephants Never Forget series.  In Big City Otto, Otto the elephant and his sidekick Crackers the parrot leave the heart of the African jungle to find Otto’s best friend Georgie, a monkey who has been stolen by poachers and taken to the United States. Depicted in bright, dramatic colors, the reader follows Otto and Crackers as they stow away on a plane and fly to New York where they learn not everyone can be trusted.  I laughed as our well-meaning and clumsy hero Otto learns to navigate his new environment.  Filled with a dynamic cast of characters, Big City Otto is a great adventure book for kids 7 to 10 who love graphic novels.  I can’t wait to read the second book in the series when Otto and Crackers search for Georgie in the Bayou.
