This creative book about physical sciences isn’t just for learning. It’s for making learning fun and applying what readers learn. Explanatory passages are followed by activities and questions that keep the readers engaged. This book is intended for children aged 4 to 7: the topics range from materials and structures to matter and movement. The font is large and there is just enough text on the page to not overwhelm a young reader. Claudia Dávila’s silly illustrations add to the fun: talking animals and playing kids make up the colourful background. The activities, which are part science project and part art project, are equally well illustrated and complement the instructions.

A list of ways to further explore the book’s concepts (for parents and teachers) is included, as well as a glossary of “words to know” and an index.
