The ABQLA’s Youth and School libraries sections, jointly with the Montreal Children’s Literature Roundtable, are glad to invite you to a meeting with author Caroline Pignat. Her visit is part of the 2012 edition of the TD Canadian Children’s Book Week. Winner of numerous awards, amongst which the prestigious Governor General Literary award for Children’s Literature (text) in 2009 for her historical fiction “Greener Grass”, the author will be with us to speak about her creative moments and inspiration.
This ABQLA Public Libraries Section event will be held on Wednesday May 16, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm at the Westmount Public Library. Learn about the Human Library Project in which visitors are given the opportunity to speak informally with “people on loan.” The Human Library initiative began as a means to reduce prejudice and promote understanding, and the project has continued to evolve throughout participating libraries. This event will explore the possibilities and challenges of the Human Library Project in both academic and public libraries.
The School Libraries Section invites you to participate in a discussion about the opportunities and issues surrounding the implementation of eBooks in School Libraries. A panel of school librarians from a variety of communities will touch on the topics of availability, platforms, devices, budgets, best practices, and the future of school library collections. Bring questions, concerns and ideas to share.
