Simplifying AI for babies is a tall order, but ABCs of Artificial Intelligence does a good job. It is a board book that pairs each letter of the alphabet with terminology or concepts as it relates to AI, like ‘heuristic’ or ‘chatbot.’ The back cover explains that each page contains three levels of reading difficulty, from a word to a simple definition to a full explanation. A baby would have a difficult time with the scientific terminology, but it is a good introduction to inspire further interest. It is also a very timely book, with the increasing presence of AI in everyday life. As a baby book, it does not go into a lot of depth, but is best presented alongside other books for young children that have an early interest in computer science.
