In Have You Ever Heard a Whale Exhale, British Columbia-based author Caroline Woodward invites readers to experience the whimsical coast and its wildlife. From asking if they’ve ever danced with an octopus or smelled a stinky sea lion, Woodward gives readers an insight on what it’s like to explore the coast. Although well done, I didn’t find the graphics particularly endearing for the intended young audience. However, with the rhyming and somewhat repetitive text, this lyrical picture book would be an interesting story time read after a classroom unit on coastal wildlife.
