West Coast Wild Baby Animals is a new book in Deborah Hodge’s West Coast Wild Series. It is also a companion to her other board book in the series, West Coast Wild ABC. Readers should take note that West Coast Wild Baby Animals, like West Coast Wild ABC, are both abbreviated and edited down versions of previous books in the series. If you already have West Coast Wild Babies (2020) in your collection, which is geared towards ages 4 to 7, I would suggest West Coast Wild Baby Animals only if you really wanted the board book format. I really enjoyed the illustrations of different wild baby animals in their environments in action. Karen Reczuch’s watercolours are beautiful. However, it’s a shame they get cropped so much in the board book format. This book would be perfect for a personal or a public library collection. Especially for a toddler to enjoy the illustrations with wild abandon.
