Information sciences have always evolved in a way that is informed by the information media that it is their mission to preserve and give access to. Current transformations are largely outpacing previous changes in the field, both for information professionals and for society at large. Some even consider it a revolution.
Though memory institutions have long been associated with calm and conservation, these institutions have now become key actors offering a wide variety of services. This evolution raises fundamental questions about the mission of these institutions, the skills and training needed by their staff, and the future of information sciences. Faced with these changes, it is no longer possible to remain bystanders. In this context, leadership becomes an essential way to leverage the role of information professionals and ensure an open, inclusive, and informed access to information.
It is in this context that the next edition of CPI invites colleagues and partners from all domains of information science to submit their thoughts, case studies, and feedback.
