News from the CFLA Copyright Committee

Here is an update on their summer activities:

  • A sub-group of the Copyright Committee wrote a response to recent op-eds in the Globe & Mail and Hill Times titled “Don’t Blame Copyright for Declining Revenue. It Won’t Help Authors“.
  • eBook Collaboration with CULC is seeking to explore new avenues in different provinces such as BC and SK for a further route for eBook licensing reform as Ontario has, for the time being, declined to address this matter in their Consumer Protection legislation.
  • Accessibility Working Group’s Reasonable Search draft document has been reviewed by interested parties, including publishers and accessibility organizations. Feedback will be considered and incorporated.
