Winter: A Solstice Story follows a group of woodland creatures who all do their part to celebrate the magic and wonder of the winter solstice. This picture book shines a light on how community and friendship each play a part in passing a joyful winter filled with light and love. There is a fun surprise halfway through the book; two pages fold out to reveal a 4-page spread image of all the animals gathered under a big tree. An appropriate read for children aged 3 to 7 with prose that is poetic, but still accessible to young readers. The dialogue in the book provides a great opportunity for readers to use animated and creative voices for the woodland creatures. The illustrations are warm, fuzzy, and resemble a felt-like texture. A fabulous book to introduce young readers to the magical side of winter and a great addition to any library!
